Amazing app with lots of professional features. Would be better if it could support the retina display someday.

A must-need bare-bones text editor and programming tool for Mac. Simply indispensible - and best of all, free!

Its probably the best text editor for the Mac, but the text appears grainy on the new Retina-enabled MacBook Pros. Any chance we could have an update for that? Also, have you considered a few in-app purchases for certain features?

tens of text encodings in the preference panel, but the first app ever I see with no sign of any arabic encodings ?! arabic text appears "???????" and this screwed my whole project when the proper text got overwritten with question marks :( a big question mark for you Bare Bones ?!

Fantastic text editor.

This app took me by surprise, I was looking for a more intuitive version of TextEdit and this blew me away. From syntax highlighting in almost all code formats to convient commands for mass editing, this is a great app. If you are looking for a minimal program to view some text documents or a simple way to view some code, this app does it all.

Very clean and easy to use. Its got all what you need to program and nothing more. Certainely your best option for text editing for Mac.

This application was flat out impressive! Rather than over-complicating the UI with mounds of buttons and options, Bare Bones Software has managed to maintain the elegance in simplicity that early text editors had. It truly puts a profound focus on what matters most - the content. For programming, it is especially useful, and the filepath list on the side is extrememly useful. I find this to be an excellent alternative to many of the more “developed” text editors! A must-have for any passionate programmer!

Super functional and handy all around text editoe. Much better than Text Edit. Overall an excellent text editor, it’s still lacking some features like OS X autosave and iCloud saving. Wish it had a deeper OS integration.

Use TextWrangler for all my C programming assignments and as a basic text editor. The only feature I cant figure out is if TextWrangler has text formatting features similar to AStyle. Still 5 stars though.

Been a long time user of TextWrangler, it replaced TextEdit a long time ago. I use it for everything from keeping notes to full blown coding. Ive never needed the full features of BBEdit, so Im quite happy with this. The only thing that bugs me about the new version is the removal of the drawer and the inline document selection option now forced on the left side of the screen. I originally wrote about my complaint at version 4.0.1 and it still exists (as far as I know) at 4.5.8. I know it better matches the rest of the OS, and other applications, but Im used to having it on the right, which better matches my work flow, and use of two monitors. (Textwrangler lives on my right display, tight against the left edge so I can quickly look between screens.) Its a small thing, but Ive not found a way to switch it to the other side.

I use it every day! Totally recommended!

Easily the best coding editor for Mac there is.

TextWrangler is a fast, robust and convenient text editor. I don’t use it for large projects as it doesn’t have autocomplete features, but it does a good job for scripts and other files that just need quick editing. I use it a lot for scratchpad operations.

Great app, used it for many years. Especially like the many search and replace features. The lack of full-screen support had me switch to another editor though.

This is one of the best free HTML editors out there for the mac.

Simple and good. Perfect as basic text editor and for power user it can edit even protected and hidden files. TextWeangler has plenty of features for just a text editor.

This is a good text editor especially for programmers. Perhaps its not so great as a basic word processor, but it is still a great app.
